Your name is Myosotis, and you have borne a curse for your beloved twin sister Magnolia for years. You had the strength to bear it, once, when you had her beside you. It was supposed to be the two of you, together.

But you've let the curse consume you, haven't you? And she's drifted away from you despite everything. You've asked her to meet you once more at the childhood home you shared, and she came.

Maybe this time things will be different.
But whichever choices you make, I'll be waiting for you...

I was finally able to playy aghhhh, oh man, having this strained but ultimately loving sibling relationship is too real. The music was an instant YES from me, I was drawn in immediately. There was just this heaviness that comes from how raw Maya's dialogue was gosh. As an older sibling I worked super hard in my highschool year's so my little brother could have an enjoyable experience, and though I'd do it again. I just wish he would say thank you every once in awhile, but maybe like Maggie, he just never really thought of it. It's this tug between wanting to do things out of the kindness of your heart but also wanting some form of recognition. It's a nice character/dynamic study and it's presented very beautifully <333 Glad I got the chance to play through it!

That point about looking for recognition was so important to get across for Maya, and that their relationship is still a loving one despite everything—so glad you enjoyed it!

The writing was beautiful and felt very authentic  to the layers of emotions between a strained familial bond. I think I was particularly affected by the characters expressing some degree of resentment in between the times that they were supposed to care and support each other.

Being the bearer of a curse because you love someone and yet still feeling abandoned despite the sacrifices you've made so that the other can live a more comfortable life (at the risk of estranging the close bond you once shared) is so saddening, but it's valid for both sides to feel frustrated and upset. In that sense, I think Maya resonates a lot with me.

The watercolor-esque visuals were eye candy and the soundtrack was also a dream!

Ahhhh thank you thank you! I'm really glad you picked up on  Maya's initial decision being the catalyst for their relationship being as strained as it is. And it is sad, to be sure, but also hopeful (I hope)!

Ohhh... my heart feels somewhat heavy after this. Part of me feels hopeful and happy for the two sisters -- that perhaps starting from this point, things might be a bit better. That now after all these years that they were finally able to say some of these nagging thoughts clouding their minds, that they will be able to work through the feelings plaguing their bond.

BUT ALSO I'M SAD BECAUSE HONESTLY SOME OF IT HIT A BIT CLOSE TO HOME.

Mmmm... I related a lot to Maya. Not the cursed part -- LOL I am certainly not cursed with anything. But the idea of like, her doing something for someone else, or giving up a part of herself for someone else, and despite how much it hurts her, not trying to actively rectify it or make it better because she feels in a way that she deserves it and there's no point, and that she should just suffer. I guess. Hmm. And then in a way she wants Maggie to appreciate what she's done, and while Maggie does, there comes a point when that person doesn't know how to respond to your quiet misery and despondency anymore and the fact that you're not even trying to make things better for yourself. Because I know I have a tendency myself to rather just wallow in my own misery rather than actively trying to reach out or make things better for myself, perhaps because I feel I don't deserve it or I don't want to bother others.

Anyway, this is turning into an embarrassing monologue about myself LOL But I really just wanted to get across that I felt this dynamic between them was very well done, and I resonated a lot with the story. I was glad that they were talking through things since it was clear this had been going on a long time. THOUGH I ALSO HAD MANY QUESTIONS. What is the curse?? What did Maya need to sacrifice herself for to get the curse?? What is this world and who are they?? LOL This feels like it could be a lovely little prologue or lead-up to a much larger story involving these two. I'd really love to see more about them and their story!!

Also the art was absolutely lovely!! The design of the sisters was very cute and I loved how you used the restraints of the jam to have it be two twins. And the background art??? Hello???? BEAUTIMOUS. What a gorgeous and soft painterly style!! It looks so peaceful and warm there and I would like to get lost in it a bit lolol.

AT ANY RATE THIS IS GETTING LONG. UMMM. Absolutely lovely!! Really enjoyed playing this and it drummed up a lot of thoughts!! Wonderful job overall and I'll be looking forward to see in the future if you ever do anything more with these characters or this world!!

Happy you enjoyed <3

Oh gosh! Firstly, thank you so much for such a detailed response! I woke up to see it (and then promptly crashed to catch up on sleep because I really needed the decompression lol) but I really appreciate you taking the time to comment.

I’m really happy to hear the story resonated with you so much! Maya and Maggie have so much history to them because I’m working through a lot of different things with their stories, and you hit on a lot of the nuance I wanted to convey. And you’d better believe there’s a longer story I want to tell with these two! I’m glad you enjoyed it, and thanks again!

The premise and beginning is really interesting. The art that has been shown so far fits the story well and is beautifully made; the overall writing coupled with the art gives the game a kind of cozy, mysterious feel that makes me want to play through the whole story. The fact that you manage to portray such a layered relationship (between the sisters) with such a limited wordcount is really impressive! Please continue this!!

Cozy and mysterious is exactly what we were aiming for—thank you so much for your comment! Stay tuned for sure, as we’ve got a post-jam update in mind and more to come!
